Nations of the World

The Universal Register covers the nations that share the world with the United Kingdom of America, through war, alliance, trade, treaty, shared monarchy, and a century of transforming settlement. These articles cover the sovereign states whose histories intersect most directly with the UKA and with each other.

The World of the Register The sovereign states of the world as the Register maps them, with the borders this history produced: one Arabia from the Levant to Oman, a Russia that never broke up, an undivided Raj, an Austria-Hungary that never dissolved, an Ireland whole, a Finland that never lost Karelia, the Baja peninsula under the American crown, and a France restrained twice, holding neither Alsace-Lorraine nor Nice, Savoy or its northern coalfield. Only the United Kingdom of America carries a colour of its own; the other colours carry no meaning beyond separating neighbours, and grey is ground the Register has not yet written. Every coloured state opens its article, and small states and territories are marked with a dot.

Hover over a state for its name, or tap it on a touch screen; click to open its article. Hold Ctrl or Cmd and scroll to zoom, or pinch, and drag to pan.
